The Star Wars Retro Collection is one of the most awesome throwbacks that Hasbro has ever done.

These figures are replicas of the Star Wars action figures that were first released all the way back in the late 70s. Using the same molds, they were able to bring these figures back for a whole new generation.

We've been working hard to find the coolest products for you that will make your life easier and more fun. Each product has been independently selected by our editors. Geek's Oasis may collect a share of sales from the links on this page if you decide to buy something - that's how we stay in business. Clicking the links will not add any cost to you. Hope you enjoy this post!

A Long Time Ago In A Galaxy Far, Far Away

Some of the original Star Wars figures from the 70s and 80s go for crazy money so this is a fun way to add a more retro (not vintage as the Star Wars Vintage Collection is something else) Star Wars action figure to your collection.

We have already looked at the best Boba Fett figure and now the whole cast of Star Wars galaxy is fair game!

šŸ’”
There is some confusion between the Star Wars Retro and Vintage Collection. The Vintage Collection is modern style figures in the 3 and ¾ inch scale but on old school Kenner style packaging.

Star Wars Escape from Death Star Game

Why We At Geek’s Oasis Love It

What is this and why are we starting our Star Wars Retro Collection guide with it? Well, this is currently the only way to get a retro-style Grand Moff Tarkin figure! It is crazy that Kenner never made one back in the day.

Star Wars Escape from Death Star Game packaging
The package includes Grand Moff Tarkin figure

This comes with a reissue of The Escape from Death Star Game, but inside the box is a carded Grand Moff Tarkin figure, complete with a picture of Peter Cushing on the box. This is one figure that even those who are not keen on this series will have in their collection.

šŸ’”
It has been said that Peter Cushing truly loved his fans and he would pretty much sign anything that people sent him to be signed right up until his last days. He may have been a villain in the movie, but he is a hero to us Star Wars fans!

Good To Know

  • Scale: 3 ¾ inch
  • Series: Star Wars A New Hope
  • Not only do you get the awesome figure, but you also get a fun retro board game that you can play too!

Star Wars Retro Collection Fifth Brother

Why We At Geek’s Oasis Love It

One of the things that is neat about the Star Wars Retro Collection is how they have made new characters in the retro style.

The whole Obi-Wan Kenobi series is a lot of fun and while Reva is cool, we thought that this Fifth Brother figures feature premium detail and deserved some special attention. Not only is this such an awesome figure, it often ends up on sale so you can get it for a very good price.

Good To Know

  • Scale: 3 ¾ inch
  • Series: Obi-Wan Kenobi
  • From our research, this tends to be one of the most affordable figures in the Star Wars Retro Collection.

Star Wars Retro Collection Ahsoka Tano

Why We At Geek’s Oasis Love It

We recently looked at the best Star Wars Black Series lightsabers and Ahsoka Tano made our list! What we have here is her but from The Mandalorian.

It is awesome how this has the likeness of Rosario Dawson and we bet she got a real kick when she saw this. One of the things that we love about this particular figure is that she comes with two Lightsabers which is pretty badass.

Good To Know

  • Scale: 3 ¾ inch
  • Series: The Mandalorian
  • We love how the packaging actually has a picture of actress Rosario Dawson on it. It makes this such a cool collectible and one you will certainly want to keep on the card.

Star Wars Retro Collection The Mandalorian

Why We At Geek’s Oasis Love It

We are sticking with The Mandalorian series as we latterly have the Retro Collection figure of The Mandalorian. This is based on his look from the first few episodes which is cool.

However, we love how he has that cheap vinyl-looking jacket. Someone in the Geek’s Oasis office got such a kick out of it that they bought two of these so they could open one up just to feel the jacket!

This is a great figure and one of the first that was not based on a mold that was used for a figure in the 70s or 80s.

The original Star Wars Darth Vader figure came with a cheap vinyl-style cape and it would often get ripped making it hard to find an original figure complete with it. Thankfully, this collection has made it much easier for people to add a classic style Darth Vader to their fan's Star Wars collection with his stylish cape intact!

Good To Know

  • Scale: 3 ¾ inch
  • Series: The Mandalorian
  • Mando is packing some real heat with this figure as he comes with a blaster and a riffle!

Hoth Ice Planet Adventure Game

Why We At Geek’s Oasis Love It

Here we have another one of those board game bundles. This one comes with a Hoth Snow Speeder Luke Skywalker Star Wars Retro Collection figure!

We love this look of Luke and actually thanks to our Star Wars Black Series Helmet guide, you can add a replica of the helmet the figure is wearing to your collection!

We just love this set, the board game has some retro fun and was popular when it was originally released in the 80s, but it is the actual figure we feel is the real star here.

šŸ’”
It is worth noting that there is a third board game that comes with a Retro Collection figure, but it is much harder to come by. Shop Disney offered a version of The Mandalorian Monopoly game that came with an exclusive Revenant Stormtrooper Retro Collection figure. While many retailers carried this Monopoly game, the version that came with the figure features premium detail and was exclusive to Shop Disney.

Good To Know

  • Scale: 3 ¾ inch
  • Series: The Empire Strikes Back
  • The board game comes with these awesome little playing pieces that are fun collectibles in their own right.

Star Wars Retro Collection Luke Skywalker

Why We At Geek’s Oasis Love It

We are sticking with Luke Skywalker and it is important to note that as we write this, this is a pre-order. Anyway, how could we have this list and not have Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker on it?

This is one of the coolest figures that the Retro Collection is going to have. He is packed with a bunch of cool accessories too. He's wearing his cloak, he has his green lightsaber and a blaster too!

No Star Wars Retro Collection display is complete without a Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker!

Good To Know

  • Scale: 3 ¾ inch
  • Series: Return of the Jedi
  • We heard a rumor that a Retro Collection Rancor could be on the way which would go perfectly with this figure!

Star Wars Retro Collection Cara Dune

Why We At Geek’s Oasis Love It

We must say that we are kind of shocked that the price of this Star Wars Retro Collection Cara Dune figure has not skyrocketed.

As an actress, Gina Carano was fired, there will be no other Cara Dune figures released in this line, it is a pity things turned out the way they did as she was great in this role.

Anyway, this is a fantastic retro representation of her and it makes for an interesting piece to have on display in your collection as chances are this Cara Dune merch will become harder and harder to find!

Good To Know

  • Scale: 3 ¾ inch
  • Series: The Mandalorian
  • Cara Dune was such a huge part of the first season that we can see this figure being very sought after as the years go by so grab it while it is affordable!

Star Wars Retro vintage Collection Darth Vader

Check Price on Amazon

Why We At Geek’s Oasis Love It

We dedicated a whole Darth Vader jigsaw puzzle guide so you knew that he was going to show up on this list!

While there was a figure in the first Star Wars Retro Collection that was based on A New Hope, this one is from his appearance in the Obi-Wan Kenobi show.

While the actual figure is awesome, we love the image of Darth Vader that is on the carding and the ā€œThe Dark Timesā€ subtitle that the figure has.

Good To Know

  • Scale: 3 ¾ inch
  • Series: Obi-Wan Kenobi
  • His appearance in this show was incredible and this action figure is a great way to show your love for that, especially the scene this figure is based on!

FAQs About The Star Wars Retro Collection

No need to search your feelings to know what is true about the Star Wars Retro Collection, check our handy FAQ instead!

How do I tell the difference between an original Star Wars action figure and one from the Retro Collection?

Some collectors were as mad as Darth Vader trying to put together one of our Star Wars 2000-piece puzzles when The Retro Collection was announced. They were worried people would try and pass these off as the originals.

Well, for the figures from the Star Wars original trilogy, it is very easy to know if you have the 70s/80s original or a new one. The easiest way is that the Retro Collection figures have a Hasbro stamp on their legs and this is not on any of the original Star Wars saga figures.

How can I get that ugly retro sticker off the box?

We love the Star Wars Retro Collection, but let’s face it, that ā€œRetroā€ sticker that they put on the box sucks big time. The worst thing is they have used glue that is so strong it can keep the Millennium Falcon together!

There are many video guides on YouTube about how to safely remove these stickers, but it is a lot of work and you do so at your own risk. If you take your time and do not rush you should be fine. DO NOT just try and peel the sticker off without checking a guide first.

Growing Your Collection One Figure At A Time

As we write our Star Wars Retro Collection guide, we have had figures based on A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, The Mandalorian, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and The Return of the Jedi series is up for pre-order.

This is a collection that is going to grow and grow. We love how they have remade some of the classic figures and blaster accessories, but also made figures that were never around back in the day such as Grand Moff Tarkin and those from The Mandalorian.

Just have fun with this line and the best advice we can give you is to ignore those stuffy elitists who look down their noses at this line and insist that you are not a true fan if you do not have the original figures!

Thanks for stopping by, and check out our Star Wars Black Series 6-inch guide for some more cool Star Wars action figures!
