It is probably not an exaggeration to say that we all remember what our first Studio Ghibli movie was.
We had a quick discussion around the Geek’s Oasis office and My Neighbor Totoro, Spirited Away, and Howl’s Moving Castle were a few that were brought up.
Spoiler alert, those three movies and a few more are all featured on our epic list of Studio Ghibli puzzles that we have for you today.
While these are truly some of the most gorgeous-looking puzzles that we have ever seen, these puzzles are also a great way for you to keep your mind active and also help you relax after a hard day.
There is just something so therapeutic about putting a jigsaw puzzle together and that rings even more true if it is based on something beautiful like a Studio Ghibli movie.
Now, call the Catbus, get on board, and think about which one of these is right for you.
Picking From The Best
You may be asking yourself, just how did we come up with this list of Studio Ghibli puzzles? Well, we went for movies that we in the Geek’s Oasis office know and love and that is why we went for these ones.
Why We At Geek’s Oasis Love It
We had to start this best Studio Ghibli puzzles list with Ensky My Neighbor Totoro Fishing on Tree as it captures the spirit of the beloved animation classic perfectly.
We see the gang sitting in a tree trying to catch some fish. However, what we in the Geek’s Oasis office loved about this was the stoic expression on Totoro’s face, how can you not love Totoro? This puzzle comes in at 500 pieces so it is not one of the harder puzzles on this list.
Good To Know
- Size: 15 x 20 inches
- Recommended Age: 13 years and up
- This really does capture the wholesome spirit of My Neighbor Totoro perfectly
Why We At Geek’s Oasis Love It
You could easily make the argument that Spirited Away was the first Studio Ghibli movie to really capture the West’s heart and shoot the studio into the mainstream.
What we liked about this Ensky Spirited Away Aburaya puzzle was the way it showed Chihiro looking up at the strange bathhouse.
It makes for a very striking image and at 1000 pieces, this is probably going to be as challenging as it was for Chihiro to get her parents back in the movie!
Good To Know
- Size: 19.69 x 29.53 inches
- Recommended Age: 13 years and up
Why We At Geek’s Oasis Love It
We had a tough time picking which Kiki’s Delivery Service puzzle to include on our Studio Ghibli puzzles list, but we felt this one deserved the spot.
What is cool and fun about this is that we do not only get the headstrong Kiki, we also have her feline companion Jiji and let us tell you, there are more than a few cat lovers in the Geek’s Oasis office!
Anyway, this puzzle has 300 pieces so it is perfect if you want a nice-looking picture that is not going to be too challenging to put together.
Good To Know
- Size: 10 x 15 inches
- Recommended Age: 12 years and up
- This is just one of a ton of Kiki’s Delivery Service puzzles you can find in online stores, but we really felt this captured her character perfectly
Why We At Geek’s Oasis Love It
Another popular movie from the Studio Ghibli archives is the early 2000s release, Howl’s Moving Castle. With this, we get an incredible image of Howl’s castle as the washing is hanging outside to dry.
It is an amazing image and the castle really does pop thanks to the amazing mountainscape (kind of looks like something Bob Ross would have painted) in the background. Plus, as this is made up of 1000 pieces it is also going to be one heck of a challenge.
Good To Know
- Size: 19.69 x 29.53 inches
- Recommended Age: 13 years and up
- While it is a character-driven movie, we all think of the magic movie castle and it is showcased beautifully in this puzzle
Why We At Geek’s Oasis Love It
Princess Mononoke is one of the more brutal and adult of all the Studio Ghibli movies. With a man vs nature kind of story going on and some very cool fantasy elements, it is certainly a very memorable movie.
With this awesome Princess Mononoke Madoi puzzle, you can capture a really cool scene from the movie.
What we love about this one is that it has that distinct Studio Ghibli style to it, but out of all the Studio Ghibli puzzles we have looked at today, this one is a bit darker which makes it stand out from the crowd.
Good To Know
- Size: 19.75 x 29.5 inches
- Recommended Age: 6 years and up
- This is certainly one of the cooler-looking images from the movie!
Why We At Geek’s Oasis Love It
The reason that we went for Secret Garden puzzle is that unless you are a super Studio Ghibli fan, this looks just like a classy and lovely landscape kind of portrait.
It is the Secret Garden from Howl’s Moving Castle which is awesome and it somehow manages to be a picture that can blend into the background and also stand out at the same time….
Look at us here at Geek’s Oasis with our art critic pants on! Also, this is quite challenging as it comes in at a rather random amount of 950 pieces!
Good To Know
- Size: 13.39 x 40.16 inches
- Recommended Age: 12 years and up
- This really is a lovely image that could be from anything, but Studio Ghibli fans will know exactly where this is from!
Why We At Geek’s Oasis Love It
This is yet another awesome neighbor Totoro jigsaw puzzle from Ensky. You can almost hear the roar in your ears when looking at this puzzle.
The colors are so bright, the teeth so big and the clouds so beautiful in this puzzle... Okay, we here at Geek's Oasis cannot resist the urge of watching those beloved classics again after such a long time! So see you later - someone else better finish this post...

Why We At Geek’s Oasis Love It
The last of the Studio Ghibli puzzles we are looking at today is a bit of a wild card entry.
This Beverly Totoro Crystal Puzzle is a 3D plastic puzzle of Totoro with his umbrella, this is such an iconic scene from My Neighbor Totoro and now you can have it on your desk or shelf in plastic form!
It is made up of 42 pieces and you have to snap and lock each one into place until the figurine is complete. This is still technically a “puzzle” just a different style of one.
Good To Know
- Recommended Age: 16 years and up
- You could get a light-up base for this and that would really make this pop!
- This is a neat idea if you want a Studio Ghibli puzzle, but do not want to put together a traditional jigsaw puzzle.
FAQ About Studio Ghibli Puzzles
We feel that you may have more questions than Chihiro did for Yubaba, but we feel we may have you covered with our nifty FAQ section.
Is Every Movie Represented?
While we were looking for the best Studio Ghibli puzzles to make this list with, we will admit that it does seem like there are far more for the puzzles based on the more mainstream hits such as Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro and Kiki’s Delivery Service than there are the likes of Pom Poko!
You may have to do some deep searching on some online store or even resort to getting an “unofficial” puzzle if you want one from a movie that is not quite as well known.
Perfect For Framing?
One thing that we usually mention when talking about puzzles here at Geek’s Oasis is when they are so cool that they would look good in a frame.
In our humble opinion, these puzzles are so breathtaking that framing and displaying them once you are done pretty much has to be taken into consideration before you even select the one you want to buy!
Sheeta Has Some Parting Advice For You!
One thing that pretty much every one of these Studio Ghibli puzzles has in common…. Apart from being based on a Studio Ghibli movie, of course, is that they are all gorgeous!
It could be so easy to just look at the image and say “That is the one I want to add to my collection”, hit the buy it now button, and patiently (or impatiently if you are like us!) wait for it to come in the mail.
The thing is, we also suggest that you make sure you pay attention to the size of the puzzle. Not just because of the framing, but the sizing in terms of puzzle pieces is all over the place for these puzzles! The last thing you want is a puzzle that is either too easy or too hard.
